I had dinner at Dan’s house tonight. Indian food with him, his son Henry and his wife Nazomi. It’s fun to join their family. Dan is a potential ghost of my future, being that he’s a techie and mountain dude, though he had his son when he was my age.
When I got home, I planned on going to bed, but Charlotte asked if I wanted to go to a Halloween party with her and I couldn’t say no. Despite getting three hours of sleep last night, the thought of showing up to a Halloween party with Char in our costumes and letting people think we went together was too much to resist.
I dressed up in my craziest clothes, and Charlotte picked me up with Kaylie and her friend named Duncan whom I sound found out was her Tinder date. I also soon found out that Charlotte was driving everyone with a broken arm. Charlotte definitely keeps people on their toes…. I did feel a little bad for Duncan getting stuck in the middle.
Charlotte said to me wow you look so good. I said to her you look good yourself and meant it. The interaction happened in front of Duncan. I started flirting with the women at the party and felt so grateful that, of all people, Charlotte was the one who lured me out of my house to mingle with other singles on a Saturday night. It was very fun to be able to meet single women… while making my crush jealous.
About halfway through the party, I think Charlotte and Duncan had a talk. When I saw Charlotte later, she seemed very frazzled and off. We sat down on the couch together. I asked if she wanted to talk about it. She said Duncan reminded her of an old boyfriend of hers. I asked if she didn’t feel safe. She said in general no. Then, she said she had a question for me but that it was a really weird question and she wasn’t sure if she should ask. I thought, “This is the big moment. She’s going to ask if I like her, and we’ll confess our feelings!” She proceeded to ask, “Are you gay?”
Though it wasn’t the question I anticipated, I was flattered and said no. I must’ve really outdone myself on my costume.
I called Kaylie and told her Charlotte seemed to not feel safe with Duncan. Kaylie came back and we all drove home together. Charlotte later clarified that she felt unsafe in general, not from Duncan. Charlotte dropped me off at home, which was so nice, I thanked her for the ride and she thanked me for coming.
