Hatun Machay
There will be one last pause in blog posts before my final stretch of running. After Huayhuash, the meter sits at 831 miles out of 1000.
For the remaining 169, I will hit the roads and zoom along the Peru Divide bikepacking route before my flight out of Lima on August 9.
But first, I get to see my Swiss friends Sara and Gian one more time. They’ve been driving from the northern tip of Canada towards the southern tip of Argentina for three years.
We go rock climbing at Hatun Machay, a stone forest that hosts Peru’s largest climbing center. At 4290m (14071ft), this is one of the highest crags in the world.
whatever a stone forest is, I like it
