Bullfrog
Inspired by Farewell Angelina
When the tower of babel came tumbling down
Did the architect have enough time to leave town?
We’re sicker from wanting, no worse for the wear
Than the crow who croaks slowly over your stair
He commands from his spot
Go outside and kick rocks
Meet the neighbors next door
Who plant flowers that flock
Kiss the olive bullfrog, meet the prince and his poems
He said bury your beggar under these old floorboards
The sun is now falling and you must go
Your lover is waiting in a rusted two door
She dropped needles in hay
Stacked gold piles far away
No need for shame, but you cannot stay
The owls are talking with twisted heads
Come closer dear, here’s what they said
Sweet devils don colorful cocktails and coats
They bargain at parties and strangle the hosts
So hide under the apple trees
And when they fall
You’ll be there to catch them
Crying prayers for papa
